The upper floors 'float' over the lower floors of glazed curtain walling. The podium elevations are clad predominantly in timber boarding and render, while the Rock building is clad entirely in copper mesh.
The podium space, landscaped with trees and a grass 'field' creates a meeting place for the occupants with a dedicated secure children's play area. The communal rooftop is conceived as a ‘hillscape’ with various levels linked by stairs and inclined green walls.
The scheme is highly sustainable and uses a combination of vertical axis turbines and solar heating exceeding on-site renewable energy requirements. A high performance external envelope will help to achieve an Eco-Homes rating of ‘Very Good’.
