A local Camden developer/client appointed EUA to design a mixed-use development on a tight corner site in a mews setting. The site comprised a number of dilapidated Victorian buildings in a variety of uses including office, retail and light industrial. The brief was to convert and extend the properties to create more commercially lettable office space with residential accommodation above. The principle issues to resolve with the Local Authority planning Department were potential loss of employment and the character of the Conservation Area.
EUA successfully persuaded the Planning Department to allow an overtly modern corner-piece, employing large areas of glass and rendered planes along with a sensitive restoration and conversion of the remaining buildings in the terrace. |
