Glebe House, HertsThis project has spanned the life of the practice. Glebe House is a large, late Victorian Manse in a quiet Essex village. It was purchased by a co-operative of individuals seeking an alternative to urban life. EUA designed a unique conversion dividing the building by vertical sub-division into four dwellings with a shared central hallway and basement/undercroft and extensive gardens. Intricate purpose designed timber staircases were one of the key features of the interiors. The house has a unique construction of an early form of precast exposed aggregate concrete block facings.
