Glebe House, Herts

This project has spanned the life of the practice. Glebe House is a large, late Victorian Manse in a quiet Essex village. It was purchased by a co-operative of individuals seeking an alternative to urban life. EUA designed a unique conversion dividing the building by vertical sub-division into four dwellings with a shared central hallway and basement/undercroft and extensive gardens. Intricate purpose designed timber staircases were one of the key features of the interiors. The house has a unique construction of an early form of precast exposed aggregate concrete block facings.

PWA have continued to work on extensions and improvements to the dwellings over the years adding loft conversions, pergolas, conservatories and internal alterations within the spirit of the original design.
