An existing client commissioned EUA to redesign his private home in Hampstead. Initially the project was to be a simple refurbishment but after some discussions and serious consideration of the options available, the client expressed a wish to demolish the house and to start the design from scratch. The result is a thoroughly modern design. It moves completely away from the original, which had in any case become obliterated by work done on the house through its lifetime to present day. Ground level windows throw shafts of light into an underground swimming pool, which along with sensitive artificial lighting, creates an ambient year-round leisure space for the owners and their guests. |
