Hotel at Budlau, Ranthambhore

An 8 bedroom hotel near a national park in Rajasthan, India, designed to have a positive holistic environmental impact on the surrounding area. It is designed to cope with an external temperature range of 60 C whilst maintaining a very comfortable internal environment all year round. During the height of summer temperatures can reach 55 C and in winter -5 C.

The design incorporates local craft construction techniques such as mud brick vaulting and locally quarried stone flooring. The building will be heated and cooled naturally with the assistance of sustainable energy technologies such as photo-voltaic panels and bio-mass gas generators. Rain water harvesting and grey water recycling will be an essential part of the sustainability of the hotel.

Architecturally, the hotel's design is derived from and is an interpretation of the local Haveli courtyard hanse tradition and will provide a high standards of accommodation for national and international visitors. The development of the hotel incorporates an innovative project to reintroduce native plant and tree species to this valley, thus greatly increasing the biodiversity of the area.
